The company MediaUtopa has just launched Sage, an intuitive 3D modelling and printing App for the iPad. ... By adjusting the curvature of the sides on the simple touchscreen interface, you can form a unique 3D object, just as you would do on a potter’s wheel or lathe.

Sage aims to take simplicity of input for creating models to 3D print to the next level using a simple two stage construction: first form the form in Shape mode; then add the textures in Surface mode.

Sage is an artists tool that you dont have to be an artist to use. You can make one-of-a-kind sculptures including vases and figurines right on your tablet. They can then be made into real objects using a 3D printing service and sent right to your home!

You can be a potter without getting your hands dirty!

You can create curios that match the colors and patterns of your decor or trophies to send as gifts. If it is something you could imagine throwing on a potters wheel, you can make it with Sage!

Sage is powerful yet simple. Each sculpture is composed of two aspects: Its Shape, and its Surface.

This app makes Shapes that are sort of based on cylinders, where you can adjust the curvature of the sides- you alter it the same way you would by throwing a vase on a potters wheel, or by carving wood on a lathe.

The Surfaces have multiple layers called "Stickers". You can move, resize, and sort the stickers right on the 3D model without having to go to an external graphics program.

I hope you enjoy Sage. There will be more features coming, so be sure to keep your iPad updated!
